Proposal For Media Production Project

Name: Claire Noble.

Date: Thursday 10th October 2013

Format: The format of this proposal will be of a Movie Poster and a DVD Sleeve.

Sector (Marketing): Television Advertisements, Billboards and Buses.

Working Title: Secrets Within.

Genre: Horror.

Intended Audience and Age: The audience I intend the film to be for is people that like some gore, mystery and supernatural. This must also include the age of the audience; which I intend for it to be around 18.

Summary Of Content: The story will be based on a teenaged girl (Around 17) that has had a lot of stress (many problems throughout her life) that causes something inside of her to awaken. The story will then go on to tell some bits of her life that haven’t been exactly pleasant but also some bits of her life where she has been the happiest that she could possibly be. The story line will have some disturbing scenes (gore) and will include violence.

Summary Style: It will make viewers feel on edge due to mystery and it will also make them feel suspense. The Poster will look dark and slightly sinister due to story line, but it might have some light colours in the background.

Legal and Ethnical considerations: This film may cause harm and offence due to the amount of violence, not suitable for children, and may have gambling in it.

Skin Tutorial

Today in Photoshop I will be showing you how I edited someone's skin/face in photoshop. First I started by getting an image of a Female's face from a site called Learning Box and then opened it into Photoshop; making sure to duplicate the layer before moving onto anything else. I duplicated the layer by right clicking on the original layer which was labeled Background and then clicked onto the option duplicate layer.

After I did this, I then removed the spots/blemishes with Spot Healing Tool. When finishing this process I went onto Filter and then clicked onto the option that said Blur; clicking onto another option that was labeled Smart Blur. Use the Eraser Tool to remove the blurred bits that you don't want to be blurred e.g. Eyes, Mouth, Hair, Lips, and Teeth.

Finally, you can now add whatever you'd like to the picture (Just remember to add another layer) such as make up, hair colour changes, eye colour changes. You can do all this by adding another layer and changing the label set as Normal to Colour.

Font Styles

Horror Style Font - The font I chose to use as an example is called "House Of Horror". I thought this font would best fit this genre because it has that eerie feel about it; the font also has that paint splatter/blood splatter effect which adds to the horror theme. The text suggests to me that the Horror will include quite a bit of gore (e.g. Blood, guts, etc.) and could possibly have a few things that might put the viewer on edge such as violence, which is expected in any horror movie. The "House Of Horror" font has the sort of persona that has a dark, hidden and insane side but also has that murderous feel to it as well. This font comes across as being fearful, horrific, mysterious and extremely creepy.

Romance Style Font - For this genre I chose to use an example that is called "Janda Romantic". This font appealed to me out of the rest because the style reminds me of Romeo and Juliet; this adds to the romantic feel to the font because of the tragic love story between the two lovers. The font gives the expression/feel of being floaty, the kind of feeling when you feel in love, the curls in the lettering also gives off that it is a kind of fairy tale themed romance. The "Janda Romantic" font has the persona that has a love struck, floaty and bubbly side to it but as well as that it has a  kind of gothic style to it too.

Expendables poster in Photoshop

In this post I'll be talking about how I made my Expendables poster in Photoshop. Before doing anything in Photoshop, I found myself a background picture that had some bright orange and yellow flames but also had a black background behind the flames. I chose this image for my background because the theme I am trying to get is action and somewhat violent.

After getting a suitable background, I took some pictures of some students in my class and even took pictures of my tutors. I used a green screen to edit these pictures properly; using a green screen helps by allowing the editor to get shadows easily. When getting rid of the green screen and shadows or any other extra things in the background that you don't want, go onto your desktop and on the bar which has the apple logo. Then click on the tab that is called Select, making sure to go down to the option Colour Range.

Doing this will bring up the Colour Range tab, you must then click the shift button on your keyboard and click on the shadowed parts of the picture until all shadows are gone. Only then will you get rid of any and all shadows/objects. Do NOT click the persons black outline otherwise you will get rid of the person along with all the other things you originally wanted to get rid of. After doing this, you will get your model/person on a grey and white checkered background. This means that it is only your model/person on that layer. Do this with all of the models/people that you wish to be on your background.

Drag your one man (or woman) image over to your background tab on Photoshop and then drop it onto the background and place it where you want until you are happy with how your model/person looks on the background. I added an orange and red tint to the person to make it seem that their image was being affected by the flames. I then dragged and dropped the image into the tab with the fire background and resized it. I did this with each person that was chosen to model.

After doing this, I searched on Google for a site called Dafont.com and downloaded a font that I liked from the site. When I was happy with the choice of font, I clicked on the font icon on Photoshop and selected the font that I downloaded; making a text box.

With having done everything I needed to do, I saved the image and then came out with the finished look. The picture below is what the poster had looked like when I had finished.
