Evaluation and reflection of project and it's results

Comparing my original idea (The sketch in just pencil) to my finished poster (The picture with more colour), I am proud to say that I like the overall outcome of it. However, in the poster I didn't add the hair, feline ears or the nose because it would have left less mystery to the picture. Where as now you don't know why he/she in the picture has feline like pupils. I aimed the character to be female and based it off Hanekawa Tsubasa (Or the Sawari Neko).

In both images, I see flaws and things that I could have done better. For example, in the pencil sketched image I could have put more detail into the blood spilling down and I could have added a background. In the final poster, I could have blended the image into the background more to make it fade in at some parts such as the edges; I also could have been more careful with the shading on the lamp posts, the blood and the skin where it has two tones. One lighter and the other darker.

The audience I aimed my poster at is towards those who are the ages of 18 years and onwards. This is due to the gore and possible skin showing (Nothing sexual just body shots that might show off assets and such).

My reflection on my poster would be that I could have done more to make it look more professional. I also could have added more detail to the lamp posts and the shading to give it more effect. With regards to my original poster idea, I would have made a background to the image and also would have drawn it better given that I had a better idea of what genre I wanted to put my poster in. At the time I wanted it to be a Horror/romance/mystery looking poster but now it looks more like a horro/mystery.

The images below are the ones I used for my poster. I will label at the top of the picture if it was a drawing reference to help me sketch or design something in the poster.

Secrets Within summary

A young Female (at the age of 17) that has been through quite a bit of stress and hardship in her life now realises her “potential” and intends to make use of it. It all starts off with her past catching up to her because the walls she built to forget about it were rapidly crumbling. When remembering those horrid memories, she starts to break down bit by bit; this causes her to feel shut off, cold and completely alone. She then starts to have “Nightmares” where she isn’t quite herself. Her appearance is completely different. This seems to comfort her slightly because she see’s it as a way to get rid of her stress and anger. But in her dreams. This is when things start to get strange for her; the young Female starts to see people in her every day life that are in her dreams. Realising that the violent and blood filled dreams weren’t actually dreams, the THING inside of her awakens.

Proposal For Media Production Project

Name: Claire Noble.

Date: Thursday 10th October 2013

Format: The format of this proposal will be of a Movie Poster and a DVD Sleeve.

Sector (Marketing): Television Advertisements, Billboards and Buses.

Working Title: Secrets Within.

Genre: Horror.

Intended Audience and Age: The audience I intend the film to be for is people that like some gore, mystery and supernatural. This must also include the age of the audience; which I intend for it to be around 18.

Summary Of Content: The story will be based on a teenaged girl (Around 17) that has had a lot of stress (many problems throughout her life) that causes something inside of her to awaken. The story will then go on to tell some bits of her life that haven’t been exactly pleasant but also some bits of her life where she has been the happiest that she could possibly be. The story line will have some disturbing scenes (gore) and will include violence.

Summary Style: It will make viewers feel on edge due to mystery and it will also make them feel suspense. The Poster will look dark and slightly sinister due to story line, but it might have some light colours in the background.

Legal and Ethnical considerations: This film may cause harm and offence due to the amount of violence, not suitable for children, and may have gambling in it.

Skin Tutorial

Today in Photoshop I will be showing you how I edited someone's skin/face in photoshop. First I started by getting an image of a Female's face from a site called Learning Box and then opened it into Photoshop; making sure to duplicate the layer before moving onto anything else. I duplicated the layer by right clicking on the original layer which was labeled Background and then clicked onto the option duplicate layer.

After I did this, I then removed the spots/blemishes with Spot Healing Tool. When finishing this process I went onto Filter and then clicked onto the option that said Blur; clicking onto another option that was labeled Smart Blur. Use the Eraser Tool to remove the blurred bits that you don't want to be blurred e.g. Eyes, Mouth, Hair, Lips, and Teeth.

Finally, you can now add whatever you'd like to the picture (Just remember to add another layer) such as make up, hair colour changes, eye colour changes. You can do all this by adding another layer and changing the label set as Normal to Colour.
